Lead Generation for Network Marketing Success.

With any business there will be marketing hurdles the homebased business owner will have to face. When working in MLM or NWM there is the added challenge of lead generation. Master this and your success is unlimited.

In the NWM arena a potential customer is called a prospect or lead. Leads are people who in one way or another requested information about your opportunity. There are several ways to generate these through marketing.

1. Pay per Click(PPC)

2. Email Marketing

3. Print type ads(newpapers and magizines)

4. Purchasing Leads from a lead vendor

5. Self Generated

To clear it up a little, all the methods, aside from purchasing leads is considered a self generated lead because you play the ad or campaign and get a response. So I will lump them all together and would like to discuss the main differences between them and the purchased lead.

The industry is in agreement that the best possible lead is self generated . This is because you begin with a bit of a relationship with the lead.

They have either clicked on your ad, opened and responded to your email or called your 800# and now know who you are. They may not remember exactly, but will recall with a little prompting. Such as identifying your website, name from the email or where they saw your print ad. Either way there is some rapport there. A purchased lead, on the other hand, is bought from a lead vendor.

These vendors have mass marketing systems in place to get leads for the industry.

Usually the lead is generated though a form and are often done with the use of incentives. Like, "fill out this form and get a free software download" or possibly win a prize.

Because of their methods, some vendors are considered bottom feeders. As in, they get these leads and prey on those in the industries who do not have the marketing prowess or budget, and sell them leads.

Now this is free enterprise and theres nothing wrong with filling a need. However, the quality of these leads is always in question, which is why it would be in your best interest to learn how to self generate.

I do applaud the vendors though.

There are several out there that do a quality job and offer non-incentive leads. They can be pricey and there is no real way for the vendor to guarantee that they will be exclusive to you.

Most sell the leads from 2 to 5 times. This is how they cover the cost of their mass marketing.

And even the higher quality, exclusive leads, meaning only sold once, can't be sure the prospect did not request information on other sites as well.

Unfortunatly the "work from home" niche is full of tire kickers. These are leads who request information with no real intent to pursue anything. They are time consuming and costly, but a part of doing business.

Many dream of making it big and working from home, few actually make the decision. Again, just part of doing business. Car dealers have it all the time. We are all guilty of it in some way.

The point here is to be cautious on how much you are paying for your leads. They are a great way to get started while you learn effective marketing of your own. All solid NWM companies offer marketing training to new associates. They are effective and I encourage you to utilize the training.

A mistake I made was to depend entirely on purchased leads.

Now, I have worked with many in the industry who have built their entire business with purchased leads, so there is nothing wrong with using them.

The challenge I had was that I could not assist my new associates personally with the marketing. I was relying entirely on purchased leads.

When you build you business that way, you get a lot of attrition. If you can not generate your own, and teach others how to do so, your business will struggle. Take the time to learn good marketing.

Use the other leaders in your company to gain some knowledge from their experience. Once I learned "how" to generate my own leads, my business took off.

And so did the success of my team.

Knowledge + Action = Success

You can also use this site and the marketing resources that I have included, to learn as well.
