Internet marketing is distinguished from other types of business venture (such as the brick and mortar marketing) through its structures. The internet marketing structure is composed of many elements including long and short term strategies, branding, traffic and its analysis and SEO. To be successful in your intenet marketing efforts you will need to master as many of these structures as you can. They each have their own place in you campaigns.

The difference between long and short term strategies is somewhat obvious, however, I’ll explain the key element in both. Long term internet marketing would include using articles and submitting them, SEO on you website and its content and the continued adding of more and more quality information.

Short term would be more of the PPC campaigns, posting ads in various places and banner exchanges to name a few. Anything that is designed to get visitors right away to you site or promotion.

You may be asking” Is there a better structure to use?”

The answer is not so simple to answer. The internet is changing so rapidly that it is a challenge to stay on the cutting edge all the time. That being said, I always recommend a combination of as many sources as YOUR budget allows.

Doing long term internet marketing is always best for sustained results. Adding content to your site and implementing basic SEO will slowly build you site in the results pages and get you more visitors.

Using a blog is a great way to use both strategies at once. Blogs are a way to add content but they also get eaten up by the search engines. One of my mainstays is to add content as often as I can but to use my blog almost every day.

For instance, the days I add content, my blog always gets pinged because the site and blog are connected. On those days I may not add any comments on my blog. The days I am not adding content I usually put something on my blog that way I maximize my results.

I am not a huge fan of most of the short term ideas because for most people they are out of the internet marketing budget. PPC is an very tricky game and people with more money than us have figured it out already. That does not mean that we cannot compete, it does mean that you have to be on the ball.

I have found that the key is to research and find the keywords with less competition and bid there. Also keeping control of you bid price and daily amounts will help you keep you budget under control.

To wrap it up, use the internet marketing structure that works for you and your sites needs. The only way to get any sustained results is to keep at it no matter what.

To Your Success,

Tim Mershon
