How to Write a Better Product Review

Writing Product Reviews is a Solid Marketing Strategy Here are 3 Steps to make the Most It.

Writing product reviews had fast become the strategy of many marketers. The idea of the product review is to offer insight into the product itself and to make a recommendation.

The problem I see with many of these review sites is they are not efficient and miss the primary goal of using the strategy, which should be new subscribers of your own. Here are 3 easy steps to improve your reviews and gain more loyal readers.

Step one to writing a great product review is to buy and read the product in question.

It amazes me at how obvious this is and yet is often missed by the reviewer. If you have not read beyond the sales page what can you offer to the review reader that will provoke them to buy. Being a product of the product is essential to offering a good review.

If you are considered a “super affiliate” you may be able to get a review copy of the product. Otherwise, make the purchase and really go through it so you can offer real insight.

The primary goal of your review should be to gain new members to your list. If you are writing a review with only sales as your goal, you make some, but long term you will lose more.

Being a product reviewer should imply that you have some expertise in the niche and therefore show you as unbiased. The purpose is to rate the product based on your experience and the value, or lack of value, it provided you.

With the long term goal of gaining new subscriber to your list, make sure you have some of that expertise to offer.

BONUS One of the best resources on how to Write a Better Product came form a great book from The Lazy Marketer himself Chris Rempel. Its Called The Conduit Method..

Compare the product to a similar product and make a recommendation.

A great way to show some expertise is to do a comparison of one product to another that is similar. By offering a comparison contrast of products, you are giving your readers more information and options. They may buy one or the other and made their choice based on your “expert advice”.

Offer snippets from the book in your review.

I am not advising you to give away the trademarked secrets. What I am suggesting is to make a point in your review and mention where in the book it can be found if they buiy the product.

If the product is about saving on adwords campaigns, for example, then mention a highlight of one the tips.

Writing “one tip in chapter 3, on writing more relevant ads, improved my Google relevancy and saved me money on clicks” is an effective way to not only show you have read the book but also put it to use and got results.

Always remember that people read reviews in hopes of getting honest insight. They are ready or at least considering buying the product and they want first hand feedback on whether it works or not.

Justify their purchase with a well written review and they will be buying through you. Or at least may become your newest subscriber because you provided them with the answers they were looking for. And then may buy from you in the future.
