How to use Goals for Success. Part 1

We have all heard about goals. The Gurus have been preaching their effectivness for years. So lets look at the importance of setting and using them to create success.

The first step to setting a goal is to really look at where you want to be when you attain it, whether it be 6 months or in 5 years. This is when most people start to dream of big houses, new cars or even traveling the world. However,to be effective,you need to reach a much deeper level than that, especially if you want to obtain it.

To fully exercise the process we must get to the reason, or the purpose. Money, houses and cars will only provide you temporary happiness. Using a picture of the object you desire is affective for visualazation, but your happiness is whats really at stake here. You must define your real objective.

Having talked with hundreds of people looking for an opportunity, most say the reason is for money. So when I ask them how their life would change if they had the money the response is different after the initial response of cars, houses, travel etc. We begin to pull back the layers and find what they truly desire.

For me it was all about freedom. I was happy enough, or so I thought, with the money I made. But the toll on my health for sacrificing so much time at work was actually starting to kill me. But initially I was looking to replace my current job income, spend time with my family and avoid any more stress.

So when I looked at the big picture the money and cars and things were not the goal. Being a full time husband and father was what I really desired. This is where we must look when we are setting a goal.

What is the real purpose here?

After you have all the money and its no longer an issue, what will your life be like, what will you be doing?

Believe me without a new purpose to reach for, you will get stuck again and again. Once you have that new car or house you will need something more than material wealth.

Things are only things and can be bought and sold. How you lived your life is all that you will leave behind.

This bring me to one of my favorite qoutes.

"Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life!"

I was living that life of just making money and I had no life to speak of anymore. Funny thing, I had that qoute in my home the whole time I was working like a dog.

Everyone has a purpose to find, that is the ultimate goal. To find it and live it the best we can.

Set your goals high and make them worth while. When you are living on purpose the rest of it comes to you naturally.

Success is a choice, you need only decide.
