With the economy going the way it is everyone is looking for some free home business ideas to make ends meet. Many of those people are looking on line to find those ideas and are learning that no real business is free.

It seems that around every search for making money there is an ad that states you will make millions with this plan or that. Of course, there is a cost that goes with anything because nothing is free especially online.

Free home business ideas do not exist!

I know it is hard to hear, or read in this case, but it is the truth. You cannot just magically make money. Think about it for a second. Even your first lemonade stand needed some seed money. No pun intended. Mom and dad may have provided that money but either way you cannot make lemonade with lemons, water and sugar. The same goes for any other “so called” free home business ideas. Here are a few more examples.

You could start a home catering business. Now if you have the home and a few pots, and some cooking skills, then you’re in business. However, how will anyone know about your business? Did you forget about marketing? Or the food your going to cook? It has to come from somewhere.

Here is another good example. My wife got into a few of the party type businesses. She started off great by choosing something she was interested in, a must if you’re going to be your own boss, and started using the companies plan to market. We all know how these things work, you set up a party with your parents, girlfriends, the people at work and hope to get new bookings at each party. It is a basic referral type business. Sounds like a free home business idea to me.

Except, eventually the bookings dried up. It seems that people do not want to host a party every 2 months for you. It also appears that you may not get 2 new bookings at each party. Soon enough the referrals were gone and so were the sales and commissions.

Free home business ideas are never really free. Oh the suggestion is free, the idea is free but the business is never free.

Who wouldn’t want to own a McDonalds? They make money every time the sign changes. But do you have any idea what it takes to buy a franchise these days. It is well over a million in working capital and still 5-7 years to actually turn profit.

Yes, you will have some marketing expenses to drive people to your business. How much depends on the type and budget.

If you are not prepared to make an investment then what you are looking for is a job. You probably have one of those, which you hate already, so why would you want another?
